This Wednesday, November 13th, I’ll be at the Chelsea District Library to host and discuss Peter Case: A Million Miles Away, the third and final film of Music and Movies with Martin Bandyke, a hand-selected series of music documentaries the Library has graciously allowed me to select and screen! Directed by Fred Parnes, the film profiles one of America’s last great troubadours – Peter Case – who has lived a life of constant change, soaring highs, and soul-crushing lows. From the frigid suburbs of Buffalo, New York, to his early years living and busking in San Francisco, to formative experiences with punk band The Nerves and power-pop legends The Plimsouls, to his decades-long, Grammy-nominated solo career, this compelling documentary lets you walk a million miles in the shoes of one of America’s great musicians. The film also features many of Peter’s friends and colleagues, including Ben Harper, Steve Earle, Van Dyke Parks, Victoria Williams and Mitchell Froom. This free screening will start at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and please register in advance at www.chelseadistrictlibrary.org. I’ll give away Martin Bandyke coffee mugs to the first 20 folks who attend…see you in Chelsea!
